The inspiration behind honey hair started with my bees. My mother and I decided to get a beehive a few years ago to help with pollinating her garden and to contribute help in the problem of declining bee populations world wide.
I found myself falling in love with these fascinating and industrious little creatures and tried to learn as much as could about them. When it came time to extract the honey from the frames I found I had another valuable product, the sweet honey infused wax!
This led to me making my first lip balms which turned out so well soon everyone I knew was asking me when I was going to make more. I have made added soap hand creams and body balms to the products I have made from bees wax and have now started to experiment with making mineral make-up.
Having worked in cosmetic retail for three years, I gained a keen understanding of the myths and hype consistently used in cosmetic advertising. It has been very gratifying to be able to control what is going into my products as well as feeling confident about the claims I make about them.
Trillium Watters Stylist/MakeupArtist Bio
I have been working as a make-up artist for about 5 years now – I graduated from Blanche MacDonald with a diploma in Make-up Artistry in 2007. I worked in TV and film, have worked with many brides for their weddings, collaborated on fashion and editorial photo shoots with well known photographers, and worked in high end cosmetic retail for a few years.
Last year I continued my studies in hairdressing, as it was the missing element to complete beauty styling. I graduated from Suki’s Academy Foundation’s Program. Suki’s was an excellent program, that was based on the Vidal Sassoon style of precision cutting. It was a comprehensive and intense course that gave me the grounding to work as a competent and creative hairdresser.
I have opened my own home based hair and make-up salon, a beautiful space set in nature in the middle of the city, near lovely Queen Elisabeth Park. The interior of the salon is sophisticated yet comfortable. It has high ceilings, a large skylight and many windows and lights. It’s the perfect space for weddings and can accommodate wedding parties with up to six people at a time. For larger wedding parties, I have a team of experienced stylists who I can call on when needed. I am able to travel to you as well, within the Lower Mainland.
I am fully set up to cut and colour hair, in addition to styling. I am carrying L’Oreal professional colour line, both Majirel, the permanent colour line and Dia/Richesse, their demi-permanent line. These products create natural to vibrant colour results, with many different shades. The L’Oreal Professional Majirel brands give you infinite colour possibilities to fulfill your colour creativity.
The name of the Salon and Product Line, Honey Hair & Make-Up, came from our honeybees. This is our third season with the honeybees and it has been fascinating learning about these complex and integral little creatures. Last year I started learning how to make cosmetics out of the honey infused wax we harvested. Starting with lip balms, we have now developed a variety of products using our own beeswax.
